Raising Boys post copied from my friend Beth

One of my friends from high school has a blog that I read regularly. Both of us have three boys, and I loved her most recent post so much that I decided to copy and paste it onto my blog. Thanks Beth @ Not A Bow In Sight!

Raising Boys
This past weekend I was at a women's retreat at church. Beside me sat two mothers who were mothers of only boys. Between the three of us we had ten boys. TEN. We laughed about the many scrapes and bruises, the smell of their bathroom, and the sheer noise level in our homes with nothing but us to balance out their testosterone.

Moms of only boys understand each other.

We understand that climbing on furniture and pretending that every object is a light saber or sword is normal behavior.

We understand that the busyness of little boys is insane...and that showers are a treat.

We understand that during this season we can't have precious items (or even pictures) sitting down low because they would not make it one hour.

We understand that the carpet will only be clean for about two weeks after it's cleaned...sigh...

We understand the noise level of a mock-Star Wars battle being played out in our living rooms while we cook dinner.

And that playing soft relaxing music is out of the question.

We understand that while our sons love us they need their dads just a little bit more as they get older.

We understand the great weight of raising godly men in a society that invites them to be just the opposite.

We understand the awkwardness of taking our sons into the ladies restroom with us because we're not quite ready for them to visit the Men's room alone.

We understand the phrase "if you're going to do that then go outside. No ____ in the house!".

We understand the poop jokes.

We understand the joys of parenting boys and how they really bless us and make us stronger women.Thank you my friends. We're in this together.
